Maintenance and Care Guide

Wooden furniture
ZAP cannot guarantee the exact matching of any wood items and any variation in colour, texture and grain are not considered defects as this is a natural product. ZAP is unable to guarantee matching of colours between different batches, as wood finishes will age with time and exposure to sun light.

Wood furniture should never be exposed to direct sunlight or damp. Direct sunlight can cause fading. Avoid placing furniture in front of or under windows. Place furniture away from heating and air conditioning vents.

If any liquid has spilled on the wood surface, wipe/blot immediately. Furniture may be cleaned, if necessary, by applying warm water with a mild soap on a soft, clean cloth. Following this application, the furniture should be dried immediately with a dry soft cloth, always rubbing with the grain of the wood. It is important to follow cleaning guidelines as failure to do so will result in any warranty claim being dismissed.

Limited and occasional use of furniture polishes can be used but are not necessary. Rotate accessories on your furniture periodically. Failure to adhere to the manufacturer’s guidelines could permanently damage the surface.

Pine picnic benches
When pine is pressure treated it is suitable for outdoor use but must be treated annually with a timber sealer or preserver.

Black spotting can occur through tannic acid which is present in the timber or by natural airborne spores. Should this happen to your furniture which is not unusual, it will not affect the strength, durability, or quality of the wood. It’s not a manufacturing defect and is purely cosmetic which can easily be removed by applying a mould remover. Do not use soapy water to clean black spotting.

We recommend checking and tightening fixings regularly.

Outdoor Furniture
We recommend that wherever possible in poor weather conditions furniture should be
stored under cover or indoors wherever possible.

If your outdoor furniture is made from wood, please follow the care and maintenance advice on page 3. It is important to follow these guidelines as failure to do so will result in any warranty claim being dismissed. Please see important notes section below.

Exposed timber on outdoor furniture should be treated regularly with a suitable wood oil or varnish. This will increase the life of the product.

Some of our products have specific care and maintenance requirements and these will be shared with you at the point of sale/ order delivery.
